SMART Unveils Inclusive Classroom Bundle for Neurodiverse Learners at ISTE
At the ISTE 2024 conference, SMART introduced the Inclusive Classroom Bundle, a new educational technology solution designed to support neurodiverse learners. This initiative aims to benefit students with conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and dyscalculia, who represent approximately 15 to 20% of the global population.
Addressing Neurodiverse Needs in Education
Traditional classrooms often struggle to meet the needs of neurodiverse students, leading to academic and social challenges. To address these gaps, SMART has partnered with the University of Melbourne to sponsor research focused on the educational experiences of students with autism and ADHD. The research will explore how Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles can help remove barriers for these students, using their insights to guide innovation.
Features of the Inclusive Classroom Bundle
The Inclusive Classroom Bundle is designed to create a supportive learning environment for all students. Key features include:
- SMART Board® RX Series:
- Interactive display with advanced features.
- Multi-colored styluses for varied input methods.
- Device integration and a 7-year SMART Assure Warranty.
- Customizable Tool Explorer Stamps:

Enhancing Student Engagement
These tools enable students to engage in learning activities beyond traditional methods of spoken or written language. The customizable stamps, for example, offer a range of interactive and immersive learning experiences. The SMART Board RX Series supports diverse methods of interaction, creating a more inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
SMART’s collaboration with the University of Melbourne is central to this initiative. The research will incorporate the perspectives of neurodivergent students to demonstrate how UDL principles can be effectively applied. This approach aims to ensure that educational tools and environments meet the needs of all learners, promoting equity and inclusion.
